In this article we will look at how to change which customer details are requested and required for online orders using Ticketsolve's "Customer fields for online" setting. This setting allows you to determine how much information you request from each customer as they checkout, and which of these fields are required or optional.
The customer journey
We understand the importance of optimising the customer journey and its significance in converting website views into ticket sales. At Ticketsolve, we constantly aim to refine and optimise the checkout process, starting from the moment visitors first land on your Ticketsolve site until they reach the final stage of making a payment and completing their order.
However, we also know that each organisation and its customer base have unique requirements, and a one-size-fits-all approach may not be effective. That's why with Ticketsolve, you have a wide range of customisation options specifically for online customer journeys. These include tailored product prompts, cross-selling and up-selling customisation, and the ability to create a distinctive confirmation page.
You can also now choose which customer fields are displayed and required for online orders. While some organisations may prefer to gather comprehensive customer information to build their database, others may opt for minimal data collection to streamline the checkout process for customers, allowing them to complete their order quickly.
How to change what customer information is requested and required
Navigate to Settings > General Settings.
1. Find the setting called "Customer fields for online".
In this setting you will see that you have several different customer fields listed. For each of these fields, you can choose from:
- Hide - The field will not be displayed online.
- Display - The field will be displayed online, but it is optional whether a customer fills it in or not.
- Display and required - The field will be displayed online and required to fill in. If it is not filled in, the customer will not be able to proceed to the payment stage.
2. Select the options you need for each field and click Update to save your changes.
These fields will now display on the Billing Details page of the online checkout process. Required fields are noted by a red asterix. In this example, you can see that some address fields are not requested at all and 'Country' is requested but not required.
Ticketsolve Tip
The email address field is always required; it is not possible to hide this or make it optional. This is so Ticketsolve is able to send the customer their confirmation email, and so that you have a point of contact for any essential communications regarding their booking.
Note: Mobile field should be set to hide; it will not display online regardless of the setting. If you want to collect a phone number, make sure that the Phone field is set to Display and required.
