In this article, we'll explain how you can use Ticketsolve's established and proven onsale process to help manage your high demand or sell out events and improve your customer's online experience. All you need to do is let us know when your busy onsale is taking place and we'll take it from there!
How does Ticketsolve's onsale process work?
We understand how important it is when a busy event goes on sale that everything runs seamlessly, which is why we have a comprehensive onsale process at the ready for you. So we can make sure your on sales run without a hitch, it's important that you let us know about it in advance so that we can optimise your Ticketsolve account accordingly.
Important
Next time you know you have a high demand event going on sale, let us know in advance by dropping us a message or emailing support@ticketsolve.zendesk.com and we'll make sure that everything goes smoothly on the day.
Where possible, please inform us at least 48 hours before the start of the onsale. This will give our team enough time to start the process and provide you with the necessary information on time.
We understand that a 48-hour notice may not always be feasible, but please still let us know as soon as you can - even a 10-minute warning helps us to take action and ensure the onsale goes without a hitch.
What we'll do to manage your onsale
- A customised waiting room to hold customers in ahead of the onsale time via a unique URL.
- Active management of the traffic on your Ticketsolve site during the onsale, allowing the optimum number of customers to be on the site at any one time whilst avoiding overload.
- Reviewing your event set-up to ensure that it is appropriate for heavy traffic and to streamline the booking process.
- Enabling custom onsale settings to speed up conversions and clear the waiting room as quickly as possible.
- A dedicated onsale Subdomain (if applicable) to avoid any disruption to your standard Ticketsolve site - read more about onsale subdomains below.
What we need from you
- To let us know the date, time and event info of when the event will go on sale - ideally with at least 48 hours notice.
- How busy you expect the onsale to be (i.e. 100s of customers or 1000's of customers).
- Whether you will send out marketing communications for the onsale ahead of the onsale time (so we know whether to expect lots of customers waiting in the queue before the event goes on sale).
- Where your marketing communications will link to (i.e., your own website, or your Ticketsolve website).
Onsale Subdomains
An onsale Subdomain is a way to manage traffic for a high demand event while not affecting the traffic for other events that you have onsale on your standard Ticketsolve site.
How do onsale Subdomains work?
We create a Subdomain for you that looks exactly the same as your main Ticketsolve pages, but with a slightly different URL - so if your main site was mytheatre.ticketsolve.com the onsale Subdomain would be mytheatre-onsale.ticketsolve.com.
Here's an example...
Main site URL:
and...
Onsale subdomain URL:
Both sites are still managed through the same Ticketsolve account, but Tags are then used to determine which Subdomain your shows will appear on. For example, you may decide to use the Tag 'mainsite' for your main Ticketsolve site/subdomain, and the Tag 'onsale' for your onsale Ticketsolve site.
All shows with the 'mainsite' Show Tag will appear on your main Ticketsolve site, but not on your onsale site. Any show with the Show Tag 'onsale' which appear on your onsale site, but not on your main site.
Why do I need an onsale Subdomain?
All Ticketsolve sites have queueing/waiting room systems that activate when the traffic exceeds a certain limit. However, for an onsale event, the queue/waiting room will be active before the onsale time to hold all customers until the event is available for purchase. By hosting high demand shows on a dedicated onsale subdomain, we can effectively manage traffic for the onsale using the queueing system. Meanwhile, customers visiting your regular Ticketsolve site won't have to wait in the queue before they can enter the site and buy tickets for other events that are already on sale.
How do I use the onsale Subdomain?
To use your onsale Subdomain, you'd need to tag the show going on sale with the 'onsale' Tag, and not with the 'mainsite' Tag. We'll also provide you with a unique URL to use for your marketing communications and website that will take customers to the show on your onsale Subdomain.
