Google Tag Manager Change Log

This article aims to keep you informed about our ongoing Google Tag Manager (GTM) updates and changes. Understanding these changes will help you take advantage of new features and avoid any disruptions that could impact your operations.

Importance of the GTM Change Log

You might wonder why we maintain a GTM change log:

  • Transparency: The change log helps you track the evolution of our GTM container over time. It shows what changes have been made, when, and by whom.
  • Troubleshooting: If you encounter any issues with our GTM implementation, the change log can help identify potential causes.
  • Communication: The change log is a way for us to keep you informed about updates and how they might impact your use of the GTM container.

How We Manage Changes

We follow a thorough process to manage changes to our GTM container. This includes proposing changes, reviewing them internally, implementing them in a new workspace within the master container, and testing thoroughly. We document each change in the change log before merging it with the master container and publishing. We then update this article to reflect the recent updates.

How We Use Version Numbers

Version numbers are integral to our change management process. Major version numbers are increased for significant changes or overhauls, like the recent inclusion of new GA4 tags (version 2.0). Minor version numbers are increased for smaller, incremental changes.

GTM Change Changes

Here is a snapshot of the recent changes made. To simplify your GTM updates, we've made it possible for you to download only the incremental changes right from this article. This means you won't have to repeatedly download the entire master container for each update. You can download the minor change and merge it with your existing master container. This process ensures you stay up-to-date without disruptions.

How to Stay Up-to-Date

Whenever we update our GTM, you can simply download the latest change we've made without having to adjust your current setup. This ensures you stay up-to-date without disruptions.
