  • Category: product prompts
  • Key: product_prompts
  • Type: text (tag)
  • Internal setting: false
  • Scopes: [[:account, :subdomain, :program, :show, :event], [:account, :ticket_price]]

Overview

This setting is used to prompt products during online checkout. This is typically used at show or event level for specific shows or events, but it can also be used at ticket price level, or at subdomain or account level.

For example, curry dishes are prompted on all Comedy Club tickets. Customers will see a 'Suggestions' step during their checkout process which prompts them to add a meal to their cart before payment:

Notes

  • If a product prompt is set at account level, the product will be prompted at checkout on all subdomains!
  • The "product_prompts" setting is for prompting products other than donations, as this functionality is slightly different. To prompt donations during the checkout process, read our guide on setting up donation products.

  • To set up a product prompt:
    1. Go to Manage > Products > find your product.
    2. Tag the product you would like to be prompted at checkout with a unique tag (or tag multiple products with the same tag if you are going to prompt multiple products for the same events).
    3. Click Update after tagging the product.
    4. Depending on the level you wish to set the prompt on (account, show, event or ticket price), go into Settings > "product_prompts".
    5. Enter the tag you put on the product. If prompting multiple products with different tags, use a comma to separate each tag.
    6. Click Update.
  • Ensure the product is enabled to be sold online!

  • You can use the setting "filter_already_chosen_products" to hide a product prompt if the customer has already added the product to their cart before going to checkout. Check the article about it here.
