Overview 

This setting determines whether a customer needs an active membership (customer online login) to check out a cart online. 

The drop-down setting has the following options:

  • yes - select this so every customer has to have a login to order online.
  • no - select this so customers can't make a login/have to checkout as a customer. They also do not have the option to log in at the top of the screen.
  • optional - select this so customers can opt to checkout with a login or as a guest.

Notes

  • If the "membership" setting is set to 'no', existing customers with active memberships will still not be able to log in online.

  • Setting this to 'yes' is the best way of avoiding duplicate customer records being created.
