Checkout Mailer (confirmation email) template

In this article, we are going to go through the Checkout Mailer, also known as the Confirmation Email. This is the email that is automatically sent once an order has been completed online or through the box office (as long as "Skip sending confirmation email" box is not ticked). It contains all the information about what they have booked, how they paid for the order and any other information relevant to what they have purchased as well as their e-tickets if applicable.

The email can be configured to include your own branding elements as well as fields from Ticketsolve.

What is included in the Checkout Mailer?

By default, your Checkout Mailer will have your branding and include order, customer and ticket details. These are pulled through using what we call 'merge fields'. These merge fields allow us to use one field to pull in a whole block of information within it.

For example...

{{customer_details}} will include:

  • Customer Name
  • Address Line 1
  • Address Line 2
  • City
  • County
  • Postcode
  • Phone Number
  • Email Address

{{order_details}} or {{effective_order}} will include (if applicable):

  • Show name
  • Event Date
  • Opening Time
  • Event Start Time
  • Number of Tickets
  • Price Each / Ticket Type
  • Price Total
  • Booking Charges
  • Product Name
  • Quantity
  • Comments
  • Price
  • Voucher Redemption Code

{{order.email_notes}}: This is text / HTML that is entered against a Subdomain, Program, Show, Event or Product in the "email note" setting.  This is particularly useful to give customers specific messages about the event or product that they have purchased.

Modifying your Checkout Mailer

The easiest way to customise or modify your Checkout Mailer template is using Mailchimp. You would need to design the email in Mailchimp, making sure you keep the required merge fields (we've got a ready made template you can update). You'd then export the HTML from Mailchimp, and add it into your Checkout Mailer template setting in Ticketsolve.

 Ticketsolve Tip

The Checkout Mailer template can only be set at Account level - the template can't be modified or customised on any other level, like for a specific Subdomain or Show. Instead, we'd recommend using the "email note" setting, which allows you to add in specific text that will pull through into the Checkout Mailer when that specific Show or Product etc. is purchased.
