Setting Up Automatic DCM Cinema Reporting

If your venue reports film screening and admissions data to DCM (Digital Cinema Media, the UK cinema advertising company), Ticketsolve can automatically send this on your behalf. Once everything's set up, we'll generate two reports for you: a Movie Lineup report listing your upcoming screenings, and an Admissions report covering your recent ticket sales. Neither needs any manual work once your account is configured and switched on.

Before you start, you'll need a few details issued to you directly by DCM:

  • Your venue's EDI Site Number
  • The EDI film number and certificate rating for each film you're screening

This article walks through everything you need to set up on your side. Once you've completed the steps below, get in touch with our Support team to switch on automated sending.

Setting your EDI Site Number

Your EDI Site Number is issued by DCM and identifies your venue in both reports. You can set it at the account level, so it applies to every venue on your account, or at the venue level, which overrides the account-level value for that venue.

If you only have one venue, the account level is enough. If you have several venues, each with its own DCM-assigned number, set it at the venue level for each one instead.

Setting it at the account level

1. Go to Settings > General Settings.

2. Search for DCM.

3. Open the EDI Site Number setting.

4. Enter your EDI Site Number in the text field.

5. Click Update to save.

Setting it at the venue level

1. Go to Manage > Venues.

2. Find and open the venue you want to edit.

3. Go into the venue's settings.

4. Open the EDI Site Number setting.

5. Enter your EDI Site Number in the text field.

6. Click Update to save.

 Important

A venue with no EDI Site Number set is excluded from both reports, with no warning shown. It's worth checking that this is set correctly for every venue you want DCM to receive data for before you go live.

Adding EDI properties to your shows

For each film you want included in the DCM reports, you'll need to add two show properties to the show (film) so Ticketsolve can pick up the details DCM needs.

1. Go to Manage > Shows and open the show for your film.

2. On the Show Details page, click into the Properties tab.

3. Click Create New Property.

4. In the Name field, enter EDIFilmNumber.

5. In the Value field, enter the film number provided by DCM.

6. Turn off the Visible Online toggle so it's greyed out. This keeps the property hidden from customers online.

7. Click Add New to save.

8. Click Create New Property again.

9. In the Name field, enter Certificate.

10. In the Value field, enter the film's certificate rating, for example 12A.

11. Turn off the Visible Online toggle so it's greyed out. This keeps the property hidden from customers online.

12. Click Add New to save.

 Important

Enter these property names exactly as shown: EDIFilmNumber and Certificate. If you use any other variation of these property names, they won't be picked up by the report.

Optional: Flagging accessible screenings

If some of your screenings have accessibility features, such as audio description, dementia friendly or relaxed screenings, you can flag these so they appear in your reports.

1. Go into the show and click into the Settings tab.

2. Search for DCM.

3. Open the DCM Screening Attributes setting.

4. Tick each attribute that applies, for example, Audio Described or Relaxed Screening. Please note that, as this is a show-level setting, any attribute set here will apply to all events listed under this show.

5. Click Update to save.

Optional: Excluding certain ticket types from DCM reports

If you sell ticket types you don't want counted in your Admissions report, such as comp tickets, in-house tickets, or complimentary passes, you can exclude them using a tag.

Create a tag

Create a tag to mark the ticket types you want to exclude, for example, dcm_excluded. Giving it a colour and emoji makes it easier to spot when you're tagging prices. See Managing Tags in Ticketsolve for how to create one.

Apply the tag to your ticket prices

1. Go to Manage > Pricing and open the relevant pricing scheme.

2. Open the ticket price you want to exclude.

3. Add your excluded tag in the Tags field.

4. Click Update Ticket Price to save.

Repeat this for every ticket price you want excluded, both on your existing films and any new films you list going forward.

1. Go to Settings > General Settings.

2. Search for DCM.

4. Select your tag from the dropdown. You can also search in the search bar for the tag.

5. Click Update to save.

 Important

You can only select one tag in this setting. If you have several ticket types to exclude, apply the same tag to all of them.

Switching on automated reporting

Once you've completed the steps above, get in touch with our Support team. We'll send a test report first to confirm everything's picking up correctly, then switch on daily sending to DCM once you're happy with the results.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if a show is missing its EDIFilmNumber property?

The film is left out of both the Movie Lineup and Admissions reports entirely. Make sure to add these properties as part of your usual process for listing a new film, and ensure that you have spelt it correctly or it won't be picked up.

How often are reports sent to DCM?

The Movie Lineup report goes out three times a day and covers your screenings for the next two weeks. The Admissions report goes out once a day and covers ticket sales from the previous five days.

Do amended orders affect my Admissions report?

Amended tickets aren't double-counted. Only the final version of an amended ticket is included in your Admissions report.

Can I exclude more than one tag?

No, the DCM Exclusion Tag setting only accepts a single tag. If you need to exclude several different ticket types, apply the same tag to all of them.

Where do my reports get sent?

Straight to DCM. There's nothing further for you to do once reporting is switched on.
