Overview

This setting will auto-opt a new customer in to the "Display opt in email" setting when they create an account online. Enabling this setting means that the customer record will automatically be opted in for marketing emails on the customers' first transaction. In this scenario, the customer has to untick the box to opt out, rather than the default process whereby a customer must manually opt in to receive marketing emails.

Notes

  • This setting works for new customers only. If a customer already has an account and is opted out of email, they will not be auto-opted in. It also does not auto-opt customers in at every transaction, and only applies to the first transaction.

  • This setting only applies to "Display opt in email" and does not auto-opt in "Display opt in post", "Display opt in SMS" and "Display opt in 3rd party".

  • This setting only works online, and not in box office.

  • To edit the text displayed next to the auto-opt in box online, go to the snippet called "Public website customer opt in for email form message" and add your text.

  • To ensure that your Privacy Policy covers legitimate interest in order for the opt-in email to be pre-ticked, go to the snippet called "Public website terms and conditions"
