In this article, we'll walk through how to create and manage reservations that have a promotion code discount applied.

This update includes an important change to the workflow for releasing reservations (and makes it easier)!
Creating a reservation with a promotion code discount
1. In Box Office, create your reservation as normal by adding a customer and tickets to the cart.
2. To add your promotion code, click the Percentage button at the footer of the cart.
3. In the pop-up, enter the promotion code and click Apply Changes.
4. You will now see that the applicable items in the cart have been discounted.
5. To place the reservation, click on Payment Options.
6. Select Reserve Order and from the calendar, select the date that you want the reservation to be available until.
7. The reservation is now complete, and the promotion code is saved with it.

Releasing reservations with promotion codes
The functionality to allow promotion codes on reservations requires a slightly different flow for releasing tickets. With this functionality enabled, when you open up a reserved order for amendment, you will see a new box at the top of the cart:
To release a reservation:
1. Go to Box Office > Search Orders and find your reservation.
2. Click to Amend the order so it opens up in the Box Office cart.
3. Click the red Release (x) button to end the reservation.
4. In the pop-up, click Release to confirm that you want to release the tickets.
5. The reservation is now released. Please note that the tickets will remain in the cart (but are no longer reserved).
6. To remove the tickets and customer record from the cart, click the 3 dots (additional options) icon and select Reset and create new cart.
7. The cart will clear, ready for a new transaction.
Converting a reservation with a promotion code discount to a confirmed order
1. Go to Box Office > Search Orders and find your reservation.
2. Click to Amend the order so it opens up in the Box Office cart.
3. You will see that the promotion code is still saved against the reservation and that the tickets are still discounted.
4. Go to Payment Options and take the payment as normal.
5. Click Confirm Order to complete the conversion and place this as a standard order.
Amending reservations with promotion codes
With this new functionality, you can also amend reservations with a promotion code discount attached, whilst the promotion code remains in the order.
1. Go to Box Office > Search Orders and find your reservation.
2. Click to Amend the order so it opens up in the Box Office cart.
3. Add or remove tickets as required from the cart. The promotion code discount is retained in the cart, even if you remove the original tickets or switch to a new event date.
4. You will see that the promotion code is still saved against the reservation and that it is being applied to any valid tickets in the cart.
In this example, we've swapped the number of tickets and moved to a different event date, and the promotion code is still in the cart:
5. Once you've finished amending tickets, you can either re-reserve the tickets or convert the reservation to a confirmed order by taking payment. If you re-reserve the order, the promotion code discount will continue to be saved against the reservation.
