How to use Tags

In this article, we are going to look at how Tags can be used in Ticketsolve, and some examples of handy system Tags you may not know about. Tags offer a lot of flexibility, and can be used for various different scenarios, such as identifying customers, discounts, reporting, programming and customising settings.

Creating Tags

Tags are generally created by typing in the desired tag into a Tags box (e.g. on the Show Details page to add it at Show level) and hitting the enter key to add it. If you're looking for an existing Tag, start typing the name of it into the Tags box and then click the correct Tag that you want to use to add it.

You can also create Tags including adding a colour and emoji to them (for Customer Tags) using the Manage Tags section of Ticketsolve by going to Manage > Tags.

Tags cannot have spaces and the only characters or symbols allowed in Tags are underscore (_) or colons (:). If you want to use multiple words, use the underscore (_) symbol between words.

Managing Tags

To view all of the Tags in your account, head to Manage > Tags. Here you will see all current Tags that exist in your account. You can filter by entering a search term, or view the full list. From here you can see what Tags you have, where they are used, and edit or delete them.

In here you'll also see any Tags are added in the background automatically by the system, for example to determine the device and browser that an order was placed on. You shouldn't need to edit or delete these, and you won't view them on Orders, Customers Records etc., but you can use them when reporting in Your Reports.

Where and when to use Tags

Tags can be used pretty much everywhere in the Ticketsolve system. Below we've listed where Tags can be used, and the most common reasons you may want to use them.

 Ticketsolve Tip

Tags should be used sparingly - only add a Tag somewhere if you know why it is needed and what it is being used for!

Handy System Tags

filter:[xxxx]

Add this filter tag on External User Profiles e.g., 'filter:showtag' and a matching tag on the Show, so in this example 'showtag'. Adding these two Tags means when logged in, the User will only see information on the Shows related to them as determined by the Tag.

no_prompt_donations

Add this to a Show or Product to stop donations being prompted for that Show or Product when it is in the Cart.

noskip

Add this to your Booking Charge setup to stop a booking charge from being skipped where there is a Benefit Product that removes charges as standard (e.g. where there is a booking fee and a meal deal package).

security:external_minimal

Add this to an External User Profile if you have a third party, e.g. a promoter, logging in to your Ticketsolve account so see their sales. This means they will not have access to any customer details such as name, email, address and phone number via View / Print lists. It is important to use this tag to ensure you comply with GDPR.

skip_booking_charges

Add this to a Benefit Product to automatically remove any Booking Charges and Fees from the Cart when a customer has that active Benefit Product and is logged into their account.

skip_customer_alerts_tag

Add this to a Customer Record to stop the system from sending Upcoming Event Alerts and Post Event Alerts to that customer.

skip_deactivation

Add this to a Discount to stop it from going inactive automatically.

skip_listing

Add this to a Product to stop if from appearing in your main Products online listings page (but it will still be prompted during the checkout if you have set it up to be).

subdomain:subdomaintag

Use this in conjunction with the 'prompt' and 'subdomaintag' on a Donation product when you want it to only be prompted on the one Subdomain. Replace 'subdomaintag' with the Tag used on the Subdomain.
